Jennifer Greenberg Takes Heat Race Victory at Sandia Motor Speedway

ALBUQUERQUE, NM - In only her 2nd night of competition in the Sandia Motor Speedway Mini Sprint class, 16 year old Jennifer Greenberg scored a convincing victory in the heat race. Starting from last place (9th on the grid), Greenberg took the lead on lap 6 of the 10 lap race and won by a comfortable margin. In the 25 lap main event, Greenberg again started from the last place position in her Yamaha powered Stealth chassis. She steadily gained positions, moving up to 3rd place by lap 10. She was steadily closing the gap on 2nd place until lap 15 when her lap times began to slow. A problem in her cockpit configuration began causing her extreme neck pain. Greenberg held on for a 3rd place finish.

After the race, Greenberg noted that "it was very exciting to win my first mini sprint heat race and take a victory lap. The main event was really disappointing. I was very comfortable in the car the first race we ran 2 weeks ago. This week we were running about 3 tenths of a second quicker lap times. Although that doesn't sound like a big difference, the higher speeds create more side "G" forces. With the weight of the helmet it can really be hard to keep your head up. I finally just had to slow down a bit and protect my position. We will have a side head support installed on the seat before we run again and I am confident that will solve the problem."

Greenberg's next event is the Mini Sprint race at Sandia Motor Speedway on July 23. She will continue to represent marketing partners Amsoil, Cabinet Concepts, SunCo Equipment and Supply and M&J Signs.
